重陽節的來源：
重陽的源頭，可追溯到先秦之前 ?！秴问洗呵铩分小都厩锛o》載：“（九月）命家宰，農事備收，舉五種之要。藏帝籍之收于神倉，祗敬必飭。”“是日也，大饗帝，嘗犧牲，告備于天子。”可見當時已有在秋九月農作物豐收之時祭饗天帝、祭祖，以謝天帝、祖先恩德的活動。漢代，《西京雜記》中記西漢時的宮人賈佩蘭稱：“九月九日，佩茱萸，食蓬餌，飲菊花酒，云令人長壽 ?！毕鄠髯源藭r起，有了重陽節求壽之俗。這是受古代巫師（后為道士）追求長生，采集藥物服用的影響。同時還有大型飲宴活動，是由先秦時慶豐收之宴飲發展而來的 ?！肚G楚歲時記》云：“九月九日，四民并籍野飲宴。”隋杜公瞻注云：“九月九日宴會，未知起于何代，然自駐至宋未改 ?！鼻箝L壽及飲宴，構成了重陽節的基礎。
重陽節的習俗：
1.賞秋
重陽節是最好的賞秋時期，中國南方還有些山區村落保留了“曬秋”特色。去鄉村賞民俗、看曬秋，已成為鄉村旅游的一種時尚。“曬秋”是一種典型的農俗現象，具有極強的地域特色。在湖南、廣西、安徽、江西等生活在山區的村民，由于地勢復雜，村莊平地極少，只好利用房前屋后及自家窗臺屋頂架曬、掛曬農作物，久而久之就演變成一種傳統農俗現象。這種村民晾曬農作物的特殊生活方式和場景，逐步成了畫家、攝影家追逐創造的素材，并塑造出詩意般的“曬秋”稱呼。發展至今，不少地方的這種曬秋習俗慢慢淡化，然而在江西婺源的篁嶺古村，曬秋已經成了農家喜慶豐收的“盛典” 。隨著果蔬的成熟，篁嶺每年九月九也開始進入曬秋旺季，并舉辦隆重的曬秋節。篁嶺曬秋被文化部評為“最美中國符號”之后，其更演變成鄉村旅游提升的“圖騰”和名片，每年吸引數十萬人去婺源賞秋拍攝。
重陽節是雜糅多種民俗為一體的中國傳統節日。慶祝重陽節一般會包括出游賞景、登高遠眺、觀賞菊花、遍插茱萸、吃重陽糕、飲菊花酒等活動。
2.登高
重陽節首先有登高的習俗。金秋九月，天高氣爽，這個季節登高遠望可達到心曠神怡、健身祛病的目的。
早在西漢，《長安志》中就有漢代京城九月九日時人們游玩觀景之記載。在東晉時，有著名的“龍山落帽”故事。
3.吃重陽糕
據史料記載，重陽糕又稱花糕、菊糕、五色糕，制無定法，較為隨意。九月九日天明時，以片糕搭兒女頭額，口中念念有詞，祝愿子女百事俱高，乃古人九月作糕的本意。講究的重陽糕要作成九層，像座寶塔，上面還作成兩只小羊，以符合重陽（羊）之義。有的還在重陽糕上插一小紅紙旗，并點蠟燭燈。這大概是用“點燈”、“吃糕”代替“登高”的意思，用小紅紙旗代替茱萸。當今的重陽糕，仍無固定品種，各地在重陽節吃的松軟糕類都稱之為重陽糕。
4.賞菊

古代還風行九九插茱萸的習俗，所以又叫做茱萸節。茱萸入藥，可制酒養身祛病。插茱萸和簪菊花在唐代就已經很普遍。茱萸香味濃，有驅蟲去濕、逐風邪的作用，并能消積食，治寒熱。民間認為九月初九也是逢兇之日，多災多難，所以在重陽節人們喜歡佩帶茱萸以辟邪求吉。茱萸因此還被人們稱為“辟邪翁” 。
